Update: A 27-year-old Avenell Heights man has been charged with additional offenses over a fatal traffic crash in Bundaberg last night.
The man briefly appeared in the Bundaberg Magistrates Court today charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and burglary.
He has also been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death and driving without a license.
All matters will be heard again in the Bundaberg Magistrates Court tomorrow.
Earlier: Forensic Crash Unit officers are investigating after a pedestrian died after been struck by a car this evening.
Preliminary inquiries indicate at 7.45pm a Toyota sedan was headed west on Bourbong Street when the vehicle has lost control near the intersection of Bingera Street. The vehicle has mounted the curb and struck a man walking on the footpath.
The pedestrian, a 63-year-old Sunshine Coast man, died at the scene.
The driver and sole occupant was arrested at the scene.
Further investigations indicate the vehicle was stolen from Avenell Heights earlier in the night.
A 27-year-old Avenell Heights man is assisting police with their inquiries.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or dashcam footage and CCTV is urged to come forward.
