Yesterday, officers from the State Crime Command’s South East Region Major and Organised Crime Squad executed a search warrant at a Mermaid Waters address locating dangerous drugs, a loaded firearm, ammunition and a large sum of cash.
Police arrested a 33-year-old man and a 24-year-old man from Mermaid Waters for drug and weapon offences including unlawfully possessing weapons, possessing dangerous drugs, possession of tainted property and possession of explosives (ammunition).
The offenders will appear in Southport Magistrates Court today.
“The possession of dangerous drugs and firearms is a dangerous combination that presents a significant risk to police, the community, and the persons involved. We will continue to work with the community to reduce such risks and disrupt such behavior,” Acting Detective Inspector Ian Galpin said.
