On April 26, 2020 the QLDNews Group consolidated 37 brands across South-East Queensland into a single brand now known as 6News.
After starting some well known and respected social media based news pages focusing on local and breaking news in 2011, we have grown past a manageable point in term of our assets. So the decision was made to consolidate into a single page, website and brand.
We decided to take the step when we did due to the timing of the COVID-19 pandemic as key members of 6News had been stood down and had time to help put this into motion.
We will remain true to our roots and remain posting live content across the South-East Queensland area, but instead of using a large number of pages to get the message out, we will be here to rule the world.
Brands like Emergency News, Moreton Alert, Moreton Bay Bulletin, Sunshine Coast Times, and Traffic Australia will continue to operation as normal but will use 6News as it home base with a slight rebranding to bring them into line with 6News.
While we love our vast network, we do not get paid, now make money from what we do, and find it had to juggle life, work, family, and our love for community news.
We hope you understand why we have made this change and will help share our content and build 6News into a community name.
